Standish is a Cumberland County town of around 10,500 residents encompassing the majority of Sebago Lake's south shore, one of the longest stretches of lakefront in the region. Incorporated in 1785, it is one of the geographically largest communities in Maine and has been among the fastest growing in the Sebago Lakes area over the past decade. The Saco River forms its western boundary and Watchic Lake sits within town limits as a second body of water. Saint Joseph's College is located here, adding a year-round institutional presence. Portland is about 25 miles east via Route 25. For buyers, Standish offers a range of price points from lakefront and near-water properties to more affordable inland homes within commuting distance of the city.
